OTTAWA — A 13 year-old boy stands accused of trying grabbing a woman's behind Wednesday afternoon and simulating sex with two other women a week earlier.
The most recent attack happened in Ottawa’s west end. The woman who was allegedly assaulted chased after the teen and called the cops around 2:30 p.m.
Patrol officers responded and arrested the kid, who has since been charged in relation to three sexual assaults — one from Wednesday as well as two reported July 14, in which both women said their attacker had rubbed up against them in a simulated sex act.
"I'm concerned, given the age of the suspect," Insp. John Maxwell said. "He'll be given the appropriate supports and testing that the court may be pursuing."
University of Ottawa law professor Carissima Mathen said while criminal charges may seem overly punitive, the Youth Criminal Justice Act is designed not to be punitive.
