WINNIPEG -- A klutzy caper's comical attempt at leaving the scene of a crime may just be what leads to his capture.

A Brandon, Man., electrical company has turned to social media to help nab a man who broke into their store Thursday morning by posting surveillance video of his panicked response to the alarm going off.

In the video, on All Points Electric Ltd.'s Facebook page, a mid-20s looking man smashes through the store's front-door window with a steel ring, then runs into the store and out of view.

A few seconds later he returns, bolting toward the exit and smashing straight into the other front-door window -- the one left intact. The dazed man then gets up and runs through the smashed window to the right.

The owner of the store said he posted the video on Thursday because he knew the comic value might help catch the vandal.

"If it wasn't funny, I would've just let the police figure it out," Darren Wright said.

Wright said nothing was taken, but the man broke two garage windows, a glass door and three service truck windows inside the shop.

The crime occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday.

Police have been notified of the break and enter. As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests had been made.

However, with the video getting lots of attention, Wright hopes that will change.

"I'm sure someone will catch him. It's great with social media because now a lot of people are watching the video," he said.
