WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg man already convicted of killing and dismembering a woman in British Columbia laughed in court as he reaffirmed his intention to plead guilty in the 2006 slaying of Myrna Letandre.

"I'll be pleading guilty," Traigo Andretti told Judge Tim Preston during a brief court appearance Monday morning.

Court heard Andretti refuses to see a lawyer and plans to represent himself in court.

"This is serious business," Preston told Andretti. "I know you are laughing and I'm not sure why. I'm saying you should speak to a lawyer. And if you don't, that's your choice."

Letandre's remains were found in a Winnipeg home in May of last year. Police arrested Andretti last month and charged him with second-degree murder.
