A Pennsylvania father waited days to tell his wife their mentally disabled son had died, and only did so after "the odour of decomposition became too strong."
Kimberly Tutko told PennLive.com she noticed a strange odour in their Harrisburg home Friday evening. Her husband, Jarrod Nicholas Tutko, went upstairs and returned with the body of their son wrapped in a sheet. When she pulled pack the sheet, Kimberly Tutko said she realized he had been dead for several days and she called 911.
Jarrod Tutko said the boy died Tuesday.
Police said it is unclear how Jarrod Jr. died, but said the father informed his wife about the boy's death "when the odour of decomposition became too strong."
Kimberly Tutko said their son was primarily cared for by his father.
The 38-year-old father has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, concealing the death of a child and abuse of a corpse.
