TORONTO - Brickstone Circle in Vaughan has been “hammered” in a series of home invasions and thefts in the area, York police say.

Since June, at least nine break and enters, thefts or attempted home invasions have occurred in the residential area of Clark Ave. W. and New Westminster Dr., York Regional Police said Wednesday.

After deeper analysis, investigators feel that these cases could be connected with more than 20 break and enters dating back to October of 2013.

Sgt. Clint Whitney says Brickstone Circle, in particular, has “been absolutely hammered” as at least 20 houses on that street have been hit.

“A break and enter is a property crime, but it’s also a crime that violates people significantly,” said Sgt. Whitney.

Three properties in the surrounding area were broken into over Simcoe Day long weekend alone. In one case, thieves made off with $80,000 of jewellery and in another two valuable fur coats were stolen.
