TORONTO -- A Toronto man is sought for allegedly beating a young woman and holding her captive.

According to Toronto Police, officers were called to a Birchmount Rd.-Eglinton Ave. E. apartment around 9 a.m. on Aug. 8 for an assault.

A woman in her 20s was “arguing with a man” who punched her in the face and “would not let her leave the apartment,” police alleged in a statement Monday.

“Over the next several hours she was held against her will and beaten,” police say. The man left the apartment after tying up the woman in the bedroom.

After breaking free, she approached a neighbour for help. The man later returned to the apartment and allegedly forced his way inside.
