WINNIPEG -- A Winnipeg man faces a number of charges including criminal negligence causing death after his common-law wife was pushed out of a moving vehicle and run over.

Jennie Lynda Lee Graves, 35, died in hospital Wednesday morning after she was injured near the area of St. Anne’s Road and St. Mary’s Road about 2:30 a.m.

Keith Ryan Thompson, 35, remains in custody and also faces charges of driving while ability impaired causing death, failure or refusal to provide a sample when involved in an accident causing death, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, along with failure to remain at the scene of the accident.

Police say Graves was a passenger in a moving truck driven southbound on St. Mary’s by Thompson when they got into an argument which turned physical. It’s alleged Thompson pushed Graves out of the truck while it was still moving and she was struck by the rear wheels.

Police believe the driver continued on for several blocks before stopping. A witness followed the vehicle and "for whatever reason" brought the suspect back to the scene, Const. Eric Hofley, a police spokesman, said Thursday.
