EDMONTON -- An Edmonton man was convicted Friday of dousing his neighbours with gasoline while holding a propane torch as they slept in the room next to their young twins.

Court of Queen's Bench Justice John Little found Gordon Govenlock, 44, guilty of break and enter with the intent of committing an indictable offence, possession of an incendiary material to commit arson, attempted arson and two counts of throwing a substance to cause bodily harm.

Little rejected Govenlock's testimony, saying his evidence "lacks any foundation in reality" and he did not "believe" him, and accepted the testimony of the neighbours.
