PETAWAWA -- A stand-off in a Petawawa neighbourhood ended peacefully this afternoon with the surrender of a 44-year-man.

The suspect walked out of his home at around 12:25 p.m. and turned himself over to police. He was immediately taken to Pembroke Regional Hospital.

While police have not said what the nature of the stand-off was, Ontario Provincial Police spokeswoman Kristine Rae said the incident remains under investigation.

Saturday morning bewildered residents watched OPP tactical units head down the street as the situation had entered its second day.

Police were initially called to a Labine Crescent residence on Thursday night but Rae would not confirm the nature of the incident when speaking with QMI Agency, saying only that details that could compromise the ongoing police operation were not going to be released.

"The main concern is getting it resolved," said Rae.
