Quebecor green program makes strides
By QMI Agency

Quebecor announced Thursday than in the past four years since launching its Concrete Actions initiative, the company saved more than 79,000 trees and more than 215 million litres of water by printing on 100% recycled paper, made specially for the company.

Quebecor has also planted more than 210,000 trees through a company program that has seen a tree go into the ground for every Videotron customer who has agreed to be invoiced online.

Under the Allo la Terre! program, more than 44,000 cellphones discarded every year in Quebec are diverted from landfill sites, and profits from the sale and recycling of the phones are reinvested in strategic reforestation projects.

"Environmental stewardship is an essential part of our company's values, and the programs we have implemented provide tangible proof of this," Quebecor president and chief executive officer Pierre Karl Peladeau said.
