Canadian-made bicycle electrifies your ride
By QMI Agency

electric bike

The first electric bicycle made in Canada will make its debut on city streets this spring.

Designed and produced by Quebec-based Procycle, the eVox electric bike "boasts the latest in both design and technology" and is "the only product of its kind in North America," the company said in a press release Sunday.

"The entire project was conceived and implemented right here in Canada, and we are all very proud of that," Procycle president Raymond Dutil said in the statement. "Research and development alone required three years of hard work and investment. The result is a solid, well-designed, reliable product that will offer cyclists a truly unique experience."

Procycle says its target customers are cycling enthusiasts over 50 years of age and young urban professionals.

The company says the bicycle will be available in two sizes "to meet the needs of 95% of the population" and boasts three modes: bike, pedal assist and freedom.

"In pedal assist mode, the DynaMe propulsion system - the only one of its kind in the world - supplements your pedaling efforts depending on which of the five levels you select on the control display, and Freedom mode lets you enjoy an effortless ride at the speed of your choice," Procycle says.

Procycle has been manufacturing bicycles since 1977 and says it has plans to expand into the international market.
