OTTAWA - Pro-pot Canadians pegging their hopes on Justin Trudeau one day reforming marijuana laws shouldn't hold their breath.

The Liberal leadership contender is just the latest in a string of Grits - including his father, former primer minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau - to flirt with the idea of loosening marijuana drug laws in Canada.

Those budding proposals never made the cut. And while many parties in Parliament support some form of relaxed cannabis prohibition, it won't happen while the Conservatives are in power.
