Man sets Movember fundraising record
By QMI Agency

Reed Ludwig, of Saskatchewan, raised the most money by an individual for Movember after he collected more than $96,000 for men's health. (Movember Canada)

An electrician from Medstead, Sask., got the most cash for his stache — raising $96,201 for Movember.

Reed Ludwig, 42, raised more money than any man in the world for this year's moustache-growing fundraiser for prostate cancer and men's health.

"It has been quite overwhelming. It feels good to support such a worthy cause," Ludwig said Friday.

Ludwig, who works for MEG Energy outside Fort McMurray, Alta., set out to raise $50,000 and was shocked to discover he'd nearly doubled his goal.

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall introduced Ludwig in the legislature Thursday and presented him with the Premier's Movember Award for his accomplishment.

For the second year in a row, Canadians raised the most cash worldwide with a total of $38.5 million.

More than 247,000 Canadians participated in the sixth annual event where men start November clean-shaven and grow a moustache for the month.
