An Edmonton couple is in the running for a $100,000 dream wedding courtesy of the largest online dating site in the world.

Andrea Ellis and her fiance David Mazur are the only Canadian contenders in the PlentyOfFish $100,000 wedding contest. The six finalist couples, who hail from locations across North America, are all engaged to be married after meeting on the dating site.

Mazur messaged Ellis first back in 2011, and after a bit of back and forth and a few hours on the phone, the pair met on an Edmonton patio.

"Things went OK and then we had our second date and sparks flew," she said. "We had our first kiss in the parking lot between our cars. It was a kiss I will remember because at that moment, I knew that David and I had something special."
