TORONTO ─ Don't mess with us, say seniors who held a thief until police arrived.

Three Good Samaritans came to the aid of an 82-year-old woman in their Dundas St. E.-Sherbourne Ave. area Toronto Community Housing building after a stranger followed the octogenarian into her apartment on Sunday.

Chin-Hua Chen, 70, said alarm bells went off in his head the minute he saw the stranger enter the building behind him and the woman around 1:45 p.m.

Toronto Police allege the man got into the woman's apartment by offering to help carry her groceries and tried to steal her purse.

Chen recalled standing at the end of the hallway, watching the man carry the groceries inside. For a second, Chen thought his suspicions were wrong, and he went inside his apartment.

Then he heard a "loud scream."
