Lady was homeward bound, and although the conclusion to this dog's long journey home differs from the popular 1993 movie, there is still a happy ending.

The grey-faced, arthritic black lab walked 30 miles across Kansas only to be rejected by her former family, Newsy said.

The family, who adopted Lady after her original owner died in 2012, was forced to take Lady back to an animal shelter because the lab could not adjust to a puppy in the home.

Lady, the determined dog she is, escaped from her third home and trekked back to the family with the puppy who, unfortunately, wouldn’t take her back.

The story caught the attention of author and Wrigley-chewing gum heiress Helen Rich, who not only adopted Lady, but sent a private jet to whisk her away to her new home in Florida.

And if Lady is still up to walking long distances, it has more than enough space inside her new 11,000-square-foot home with 100 acres of property.
