Lotto winners have date with destiny
By DONNA CASEY -- Sun Media
OTTAWA -- For the last 10 years, their numbers didn't add up to much, but last Friday, Robert and Helen Brouzes hit the jackpot when their Lotto 6/49 ticket made them multimillionaires. The Ottawa couple won a $3,891,903 prize after matching six numbers on their Nov. 11 ticket. The retired couple had been playing the same six numbers -- a combination of their birthdates and wedding anniversary date -- for a decade. DISBELIEF Robert, 66, first checked his ticket in the newspaper and not believing his luck, he headed to a local store to double-check his numbers against a winning numbers slip. The ticket was bought at Ogilvie Food Mart on Cadboro Rd. in Gloucester. Robert and his wife Helen, 80, travelled to Toronto this week to collect their prize winnings at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Prize Centre. With the windfall, the couple plan to buy a new vehicle, do some travelling, pay off their debts and refurnish their home. |
