WINNIPEG -- A lottery ticket purchased in Manitoba is worth millions.
A Wednesday Lotto 6/49 draw pulled numbers 6, 11, 20, 26, 34 and 35, with a bonus number of 2. Three people -- including one lucky person who bought a ticket in Manitoba -- will split the $13.8-million jackpot, with the other two winning tickets being sold in Ontario.
The three-way split means each winner will pocket nearly $4.6 million.
The win signals the end of a Manitoba "big jackpot" dry spell. It's the first time a ticket purchased in this province has been a winner of a jackpot of more than $1 million since Jan. 21, 2006.
"It goes in streaks. We had three winners in 45 days of $4 million and $5 million each about six years ago," said John Matheson, a Western Canada Lotteries spokesman.
"Hopefully, this is the start of a new streak. You go through periods where you are extremely hot as a province or have a gap between wins."
Matheson said the winning ticket was bought somewhere outside of Winnipeg. Further details will only be released once the prize is claimed.
Matheson said winners have a year to collect their cash but most come forward within one or two weeks.
