Stampede 2007 has come and gone, but 10 lucky Calgary-area residents will take home some valuable souvenirs to remember the occasion.
Kaleung Hui was the big winner in this year's Stampede Lotteries, nabbing the Rotary Dream Home worth $800,000, and Dennis Groenhof, of Strathmore, is $250,000 richer as the winner of the Lions Lucky Loot.
Not only will Groenhof benefit charities in southern Alberta with the 100 tickets he bought to enter the lottery, but said he will also give some of the cash to his family, invest some and use some to pay off his mortgage.
"You buy tickets to help out ... different charities and if you don't win you donated to a good cause anyway," he said.
Stephanie Kincaide won the Harley-Davidson Soft Tail Fat Boy motorcycle, Mike Petley scored the 2007 Pontiac G6 Convertible GT, Tim Sherpa will ride away with the 2007 GMC Acadia SLE and Kim Kuntz will take home the 2007 Pontiac Solstice convertible.
Paul Zettle was the winner of the Citation and a 2007 GMC Sierra 3500 HD Crew Cab SLE.
The Chapparal Boat, trailer, and 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab will be given to Don Kahut of Okotoks, and the 2007 GMC Sierra 2500 Crew Cab, 2007 Yamaha Rhino, 2007 Seadoo GTI and trailer will go to Dan and Doris Burak.
Winners will get their prizes at a reception Thursday.
