TORONTO - Retired construction worker Alan Williams thanked his lucky stars for not playing his regular lottery numbers.
By choosing random numbers, Williams, 73, of Pefferlaw, Ont., scored a Lotto 6-49 jackpot worth $15,611,639.10.
To celebrate, he pulled up Thursday at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation in downtown Toronto to collect his winnings in a stretched limousine.
Williams said he bought his ticket for the Wednesday draw that day with his wife Margaret at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Sutton, near Lake Simcoe.
"We were both stunned when we realized all six numbers matched," he said.
Williams said he and his wife — married 49 years — couldn't "sleep a wink."
It wasn't the first win in their family.
One of two sons scored $1 million with any Ontario Instant Millions ticket 10 years ago.
Williams said he hasn't decided on how to spent the windfall, but promises to help his sons, their wives and three grandchildren.
