Someone in Calgary could be one in 13 million.
The winning ticket to Saturday’s Lotto 6/49 jackpot, worth nearly $25 million, was purchased in Cowtown, the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) confirmed Sunday.
The winning numbers are 9, 11, 31, 34, 48, 49 and the bonus is 41.
“This is a substantial jackpot,” said WCLC spokeswoman Andrea Marantz. “Twenty-five million is really a life-changing amount of money.”
The chances of winning the pot are about one in 13 million, she said.
Whoever the brand new multi-millionaire has to wait until at least Monday to file the claim, said Marantz, who added, the winner has up to a year to claim the cash.
“We’ve had some hilarious cases where people will be using their ticket as a bookmark and they’ve just completely forgotten about it,” she said.
Even once the winner files a claim, it could take up to a few months until the cool $25 million lands in his or her pocket.
“With an amount of money this big, it’s not a one-day thing,” said Marantz.
“It takes a bit of time to do the paperwork.”
Alberta holds the Canada’s record lottery win after a group of oil field workers near Camrose claimed a $54.3-million prize in 2005, said Marantz.
Saturday’s winning ticket holder is asked to call 1-800-665-3313 to being the claim process.
The next Lotto 6/49 prize is an estimated $3 million.
