EDMONTON -- Playing the same lotto numbers for the past six years paid off for Edmonton’s latest $1-million Western 649 winner.

Angelo Woodroffe played the randomly chosen numbers — 10, 13, 17, 32, 33 and 34 — and checked the $3 ticket at the same store he purchased it at, Pleasantview Petro Canada, 10560 51 Ave. NW.

“I saw a one and a bunch of zeroes,” he said of checking his ticket on the Ticket Checker.

“I thought, ‘Maybe 10 grand?’, then I thought, ‘Wait, it must be more than that.’”

Angelo calmly finished checking his tickets before taking the winner up to the counter for the retailer to check.

His ticket drew some attention from other shoppers in the store.

“They were looking at the screen,” he said.

“They were all happy, saying things like, ’Yay! Someone won here!’”

Angelo has plans to buy a home and a new car with the winnings.

But he also plans to continue doing much of the same things he did before he was a millionaire.

“I’ve always helped out my family, and I can continue to do so,” he said.
