MUMBAI, India - Prime Minister Stephen Harper has arrived in Mumbai at the start of a three-day visit to India.
After spending just 36 hours at the APEC summit in Singapore, the prime minister plans an extensive tour.
In addition to Mumbai, the agenda also lists stops in New Delhi and Amritsar.
The first day is packed, starting with a round table with Indian investors in Canada.
That's followed by a tour of Chabad House, the Jewish centre that was the site of a hostage-taking and terror attack a year ago.
Sandwiched between that and a speech on Canada-India relations is a photo opportunity with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar.
Another photo opportunity later in the day will see the Prime Minister and his wife Laureen visiting with Indo-Canadian contestants in the reality show Dance Premier League.
This is the prime minister's first visit to India since taking office almost four years ago.
But he has brushed off suggestions he is late coming to the table.
The prime minister says he's met Indian leaders "on numerous occasions" and there have been a number of ministerial visits.
He says the Conservative government has actually re-engaged in India in a way Canadian governments have not since the 1970s.
