What happened to Peter's chair?

OTTAWA - Questions about what ever happened to Peter Mansbridge's chair may never be answered.

In the fall of 2009, CBC revamped its flagship news program, The National, bringing in a new set that required anchor Peter Mansbridge to stand. The change caused much consternation among viewers and in the media world.

One Globe and Mail columnist asked, "Will someone get Peter Mansbridge a chair?" But the truth is CBC may not be able to get Peter a chair, they don't know what they did with the one they had.

In the ongoing effort to ensure accountability for the $1.1 billion tax dollars sent to the CBC each year, QMI Agency asked what had happened to Peter's chair. The official response from CBC at this point is, they don't know.

"There is no central area responsible for the disposal of chairs," a CBC official said in an e-mail.

As for whether the chair has been thrown out, "it's unlikely that chairs would be itemized as they are relatively low-value the majority of the time." The investigation continues.
