Alta. minister mistakenly used in U.S. election attack ad
By Katie Schneider, Calgary Sun

Alberta human services minister Dave Hancock. (QMI AGENCY FILE)

Alberta MLA Dave Hancock has made an appearance in the U.S. election campaign.

His face has, anyway.

A photograph of the province's human services minister popped up in an election ad targeting a couple of Republicans in Minnesota -- Rep. Larry Howes and Rep. David Hancock.

Sponsored by the Minnesota House DFL Caucus, the ad claims "Rep. Larry Howes and Rep. David Hancock aren't telling the truth about Minnesota's budget."

The ad takes aim at the politicians, saying they "insisted on a budget that borrowed over $2 billion from Minnesota schools, leaving the state more than $4 million in debt next year."

Alberta's Hancock seemed to take the mistake light-heartedly.

On Thursday, he tweeted: "My influence knows no boundaries ;) Campaign Advice: know your opponent #ableg #UseTheRightPhotoNextTime."
