Toronto Mayor Rob Ford granted stay

Judge grants stay for Ford

TORONTO -- Mayor Rob Ford will stick around in his job until his appeal is heard in January.

A judge Tuesday gave Ford a holiday reprieve by granting his request for a temporary stay of the order removing him from office, pending the outcome of his Jan. 7 appeal.

"I'm very pleased with (the) decision," Ford said outside his office. "I can't wait for the appeal and I'm gong to carry on doing what the people elected me to do.

"They voted me to be mayor, to get this city back on financial footing, which we've done. I've got a lot of work to do and I'm gong to keep doing it to the best of my abilities."
