The door is now wide open for immigrants ready to take up Canadian blue-collar jobs.
The new Federal Skilled Trades Program has started accepting applications from foreigners who can help fix the labour shortage in several areas.
"Canadian employers have long been asking for ways to get the skilled tradespeople they need to meet demands in many industries across the country," Immigration Minister Jason Kenney said in a statement. "We've listened to their concerns and created this program in response."
