The federal government has come to a proposed agreement of up to $887.8 million with disabled veterans who had their benefits clawed back by Ottawa, in some cases since 1976.

Last May, a federal court ruled in favour of veterans following a five-year legal battle spearheaded by former soldier Dennis Manuge that ended deductions of veterans' disability pensions when calculating their Earnings Loss and Canadian Forces Income Support benefits.

In July, the feds decided not to appeal a Federal Court ruling that it was wrong to claw back veterans' disability benefits.
