OTTAWA — The Embassy of Canada in Cairo has been closed since Monday and will remain so until further notice due to the deteriorating security conditions in that country.

Foreign Affairs officials, citing an increase in demonstrations in that country, urged Canadians to exercise a "high degree of caution due to the unpredictable security situation and continued demonstrations throughout the country."

Officials also advise Canadians against all travel to Port Said, Suez and Ismailia, along with the Sinai Peninsula, except for some coastal resorts.
