N.B. MLA punished after drunk-driving arrest
By QMI Agency

Victori-Tobique MLA Wes McLean. (HO)

A Progressive Conservative MLA in New Brunswick has been stripped of his legislative duties after he was charged with impaired driving.

Wes McLean, 31, was pulled over and arrested last Saturday in Edmundston, N.B.

"I take this very seriously and have asked Mr. McLean to step aside from his legislature duties including his role as deputy House leader and legislative secretary to the premier. He will no longer represent the government on legislative committees," Premier David Alward said in a statement.

McLean has represented the Victori-Tobique riding since 2010.
