OTTAWA — Patrick Brazeau's alleged victim says the aboriginal senator hit her arms, put a hand around her neck, pushed her down the stairs, spat in her face and touched her in an aggressively sexual way, court documents obtained by QMI Agency show.
According to her version of events, the pair had an argument about aboriginal issues that started the night of Feb. 6 and led to Brazeau's arrest the next morning. Prime Minister Stephen Harper kicked him out of the Conservative caucus upon news of his arrest, and the Senate put him on paid leave the following week.
Brazeau did not return messages seeking comments.
Brazeau, 38, spent the night in custody and was charged with assault and sexual assault on Feb. 8. He pleaded not guilty and was released on $1,000 bail. If convicted he faces a maximum six months in jail for assault and 18 months for sexual assault.
He is due back in court March 22.
