MONTREAL - The NDP on Sunday launched an attack-ad campaign against the Conservatives, just days after an NDP MPs crossed the floor to the Bloc Quebecois.
The campaign is called "Our Region Abandoned," a reference to the Conservatives' slogan in Quebec during the 2011 federal election -- "Our Region in Power."
The NDP will distribute leaflets with the message that Prime Minister Stephen Harper is ignoring Quebec's regions. They also created a website that criticized several Conservative policies, including the plans to reform employment insurance.
NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair told reporters in Quebec's Saguenay region on Sunday that Harper is attacking people without jobs.
"It's worth letting people know what's going on," he said.
The campaign came a few days after Claude Patry, MP for Jonquiere-Alma, left the NDP caucus and joined the separatist Bloc Quebecois.
Patry said that the NDP was not doing enough to represent Quebec's interests.
