Insider accuses Liberal party of campaigning for Trudeau
By Daniel Proussalidis, Parliamentary Bureau

Liberal party playing favourites?

OTTAWA - A Liberal Party of Canada insider is accusing his own party of campaigning on behalf of Montreal MP Justin Trudeau in the Grits’ leadership contest.

The insider tells QMI Agency that the party has hired a company to conduct a phone canvass of tens of thousands of supporters to urge them to register as participants in the party’s April leadership vote.

With Trudeau’s campaign still far from getting the most of its supporters registered, there are fears the canvassing will leave the party doing the candidate’s work for him.

“At the end of the day you’re really only helping one campaign,” said the insider, who plays a senior role in one of the leadership candidates' campaigns.

“Why don’t we just stop the leadership now and just, you know, say enough?”

Complaints about the party playing favourites come after the Grits already gave in to Trudeau’s demand that campaigns get more time to register supporters to vote.
