Alberta's New York Times pipeline ad 'dishonest': NDP
By Kevin Maimann, QMI Agency

Alberta NDP Leader Brian Mason is blasting a Government of Alberta ad that ran in Sunday's New York Times, calling it "misleading" and "fundamentally dishonest."

The ad, entitled Keystone XL: The Choice of Reason, supports the Keystone XL pipeline and positions the province as a "neighbour, ally (and) friend" of the United States while playing up Alberta's "strong environmental track record."

The $30,000 ad also cites a Canadian Energy Research Institute estimate that the pipeline and continued oilsands development will create 138,000 American spinoff jobs per year for the next 25 years.
