Chris Hadfield records Christmas song from space

Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield is spreading Christmas joy from outer space.

The first Canadian to walk in space posted the song "Jewel in the Night" to the music service Soundcloud on Christmas Eve and shared it on the social networking site Reddit, with the caption, "Not sure if it's up to reddit standards, but here is a song I recorded yesterday on the International Space Station."

Hadfield, 53, a former Royal Canadian Airforce commander, loves to play guitar and has some time to kill on his five-month mission orbiting Earth.

After participating in a series of scientific experiments, Hadfield is poised take command of the ISS in March 2013.

He'll be the second Canadian to command the space station.

Hadfield as also been tweeting his space adventures at @Cmdr_Hadfield This is the Sarnia, Ont., native's third trip to space.
