This image captured by the Hubble Space Telescope is being dubbed by NASA as “the most comprehensive picture ever assembled of the evolving universe — and one of the most colourful.”

The photo was released by the space agency on Tuesday and is part of its Ultraviolet Coverage of the Hubble Ultra Deep Field project.

The image is a composite of separate exposures taken in 2003 to 2012 with Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys and Wide Field Camera 3, containing approximately 10,000 galaxies.
