TORONTO - Unlike Marty McFly’s hoverboard, this one is powered by water.

The North American premiere of the Hoverboard took place Sunday on Toronto’s waterfront and it did not disappoint.

The board doesn’t just hover — it flies.

Inventor Franky Zapata demonstrated it with great showmanship to a large crowd of fans who shouted while he back-flipped through the air and coasted along the Lake Ontario shoreline during the 2014 Flyboard North American Championships, part of Redpath’s Waterfront Festival.
