Lindsay Lohan voting for Mitt Romney

Lindsay Lohan says she's voting for Mitt Romney

What to expect from the U.S. presidential townhall

U.S. Republican Party presidential candidate Mitt Romney has landed himself a headline-grabbing new celebrity supporter – Lindsay Lohan will be voting for him.

The troubled actress has declared herself a fan of President Barack Obama's chief rival ahead of next month's election.

Asked who she'll be voting for at a red carpet event in Hollywood on Thursday, the actress replied, "Well, I just think unemployment is really important, so as of now I think it's Mitt Romney.”

The endorsement comes during another drama-filled week for the Mean Girls star, who was forced to apologize to her mother Dina after making wild allegations about a fight the pair had at the family's Long Island, New York home late on Tuesday night.

The actress called her estranged father Michael and told him her mother – his ex-wife – was using cocaine and had locked her in a limousine. Lohan's dad then called the police and reported a domestic dispute.

She isn't the only celebrity who has gone public with her support of Romney – Clint Eastwood spoke at the summer's Republican National Convention prior to the presidential hopeful's acceptance speech as the party's 2012 candidate and Scott Baio and Clueless star Stacey Dash have both been vocal about their hopes the Mormon politician will beat Obama at the polls.
