British censors are outraged at plans to make them watch porn alone.
Staff at the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) are worried they could become aroused when rating pornographic films if a new money saving initiative makes them watch the films alone.
Solo viewings have already been introduced for some less-controversial works, but the BBFC plans to extend to possibly include ‘sex works’ – which include R18 hardcore pornography.
Examiners argue the present method of working in teams of two makes it easier to form an accurate professional judgment about content.
The BBFC is a non-for-profit organisation funded by the film and TV industries, which classifies around 600 cinematic releases and 12,000 DVDs every year. It is also responsible for rating adverts and video games.
