Two young men have been arrested in connection with the robbery and bizarre vandalism of an Oakville church, police said today.
The Trafalgar Presbyterian Church, at Trafalgar and Upper Middle Rds., was broken into after a large plate glass window was broken sometime between Aug. 9 and 10, Halton Regional Police said.
"Once inside the church the suspects smashed windows and spread mustard and ketchup, taken form the church kitchen, over the entire church," police said.
Sound equipment worth more than $2,000 was stolen and damage to the church was estimated to be more than $10,000, police said.
Stolen items were found at a local pawn shop in Burlington on Sept. 19, the discovery of which ultimately led police two Hamilton men.
Brandon Christensen, 23, and Jordon Miller, 22, were charged with break and enter and theft, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and mischief over $5,000, police said.
The investigation continues, with police asking anyone with information to call them at 905-825-4777 ext. 2215 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
