LONDON, Ont. - Yes, beauty does have a price – especially when it flirts with the law.
Police have charged a 30-year-old southwestern Ontario woman with careless driving after an officer watched her putting on facial make-up while driving near London, Ont.
Police said the officer spotted the woman shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday and pulled her over.
“Although the distracted driving legislation speaks to the use of hand-held devices while driving, officers have always had the discretion to lay a charge of careless driving where the circumstances dictated that was appropriate,” said Ontario Provincial Police Const. Joanna Van Mierlo.
“Careless driving speaks to driving ‘without due care and attention.’ Motorists need to remember that driving is an active job that requires full attention. Although we multi-task in many other areas of our lives, while driving is not the time,” Van Mierlo said.
