WINNIPEG - A bogus 911 call led to a man being arrested for drunk driving in Brandon, Man., on the weekend.
Police said a gas station employee called police Sunday about 7:25 a.m. to report a possible impaired driver filling his vehicle with gas at one of the pumps.
The employee told the man not to drive because he appeared to be intoxicated, so the man abandoned his vehicle and began walking south along a service road, police said.
A short time later, the man allegedly called 911 and claimed someone stole his vehicle.
Already aware of the impaired driver call, officers located and arrested the man, who provided blood-alcohol readings more than twice the legal limit of .08, police said.
A 20-year-old Oak Lake, Man., man was arrested and released on a promise to appear in court July 5 on charges of impaired driving and public mischief.
