Guinness World Records announced that the new world's shortest man measures in at 70.21 cm (two feet, 3.46 inches) tall, four cm shorter than the previous title holder, He Pingping of China.
Edward Hernandez, 24, of Bogota, Colombia, will be featured in the latest edition of the Guinness World Records book, due out Sept. 15.
"I am very happy to be recognized as the shortest man in the world," Hernandez said in a statement. "Every person is different and unique. The more unusual you are the more you should fight and work harder."
Unfortunately, Hernandez will likely have to give up his title in a month when 17-year-old Nepalese Khagendra Thapa Magar, the world's shortest teenager, turns 18 in October. He stands two inches shorter than Hernandez.
