Girl, 12, crashes truck, takes out town's power
By QMI Agency

KENORA, Ont. — Police say a 12-year-old girl crashed a stolen pickup truck — filled with ten young passengers — into a hydro pole on Saturday, knocking out power in Pikangikum, Ont.

The girl allegedly took her family's truck and picked up three 10-year-olds, three 13-year-olds, three 14-year-olds and a 21-year-old.

Police said the driver fled when police attempted to pull the truck over and, given the age of the driver, officers opted not to pursue. Police continued to patrol for the truck, but only located it after it crashed into the hydro pole.

The truck's occupants had already fled the scene.

Charges against the 12-year-old driver are pending.

Pikangikum is located in northwestern Ontario.
