An Illinois woman was arrested for suspected drug charges after she called 911 to report a home invasion and police instead discovered the heroin she told them she'd taken to come down from a crack-cocaine high.

Police were called to a home in Skokie, a village north of Chicago, on Friday afternoon, the Chicago Tribune newspaper reported, by a woman who said there were two unwanted people inside her house.

The woman, Elina Sarkisian, 22, waited outside while police searched for the suspects. They found no one in the house, but did find what looked like heroin on the kitchen counter, the Tribune reported.

"She said she'd smoked crack cocaine earlier in the day and used heroin to bring her back down," Skokie Police Sgt. David Pawlak told the Tribune. "She said she believed she 'hallucinated' the two subjects and they were not real."
