Beer label has British MP hopping mad

A beer with a bosomy half-naked blond on its logo has been banned from the bar at the British House of Commons after a female MP complained.

Minister Kate Green said she was "disturbed" by the image on the label of Top Totty, and House authorities pulled it from Strangers' Bar within an hour and a half, the Telegraph reported Thursday.

The beer's maker, Slater's Ales, describes it as "a stunning blonde beer full-bodied with a voluptuous hop aroma." The image that appears on both the label and the tap pull shows a drawing of a curvy woman wearing a bikini and Playboy Playmate-style bunny ears and bow tie.

"Totty" is a slang term some feel objectifies women.

Brewery spokeswoman Fay Slater told a reporter from the local student newspaper Staffs Live that they've been making the beer for 15 years — with that logo — and that the complaint hasn't hurt sales at all.

Informal polls and online comments show overwhelming opposition to Green's stance and call for her to lighten up.
