Thief returns to crime scene for lost wallet, finds cops

WINNIPEG -- Thieves often return to the scene of the crime -- but most are bright enough to wait until the cops are gone.

Dauphin, Man., RCMP have charged a suspected thief they say returned to a restaurant he'd broken into to retrieve his lost wallet.

On Tuesday at about 11:55 p.m., RCMP were called to an intrusion alarm at a restaurant in the south end of Dauphin.

When officers arrived, they discovered the restaurant had been broken into. About 90 minutes into the investigation -- and while investigators were still on scene -- the suspect returned to look for his wallet, which he had dropped.

Tarrin Clayton Robert Grimolfson, 18, of Dauphin, is charged with break, enter and theft.

He appeared in court in Dauphin on Wednesday, and was released on a recognizance and remanded to Aug. 28.

Cash stolen from the restaurant was recovered and returned to the business.
