Man accidentally shoots his buttocks at theatre

A man whose gun went off in a movie theatre in Sparks, Nev., apologized to the other theatregoers before leaving the Tuesday night screening of The Bourne Legacy to go to hospital for a gunshot wound to his buttocks, police say.

Police say the 56-year-old man was found at a hospital in nearby Reno, where he was being treated for a through-and-through gunshot wound to his backside. The man told police that his gun fell out of his pocket and discharged when it hit the floor of the theatre. Witnesses in the theatre corroborated his story.

The man has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, police say, and the case is being forwarded to the city attorney’s office for possible charges related to the discharging of the gun.
