If you're ripped off by a drug dealer or a sex worker, you're pretty much on your own -- a lesson a U.S. man learned the hard way.

On March 25, Scott Pipher, 34, told cops in Portsmouth, Maine, that a prostitute "shorted him 10 minutes," reports the Sea Coast Online. Sgt. Gerard Hamilton told the paper that Pipher complained the woman "did not give him his money's worth."

Police responded by launching an investigation, and eventually placing him and two alleged prostitutes under arrest.

Pipher has been charged him with engaging a prostitute. He's due in court Dec. 12.

Turns out sex workers have complained about Pipher, too. Two sites where escorts share information -- National Blacklist ad Bad Boy Client -- listed complaints about him, Sea Coast reports.

One calls him "notorious for booking out calls and then not answering his door or phone."
