It was a Whopper of a funeral for a Pennsylvania man.

The funeral procession for David S. Kime Jr. took a side trip to one of the dead man's favourite fast-food joints - Burger King.

According to the York Daily Record, Kime, 88, loved fast food so much that as a final tribute, mourners followed the hearse from the funeral home to the Home of the Whopper -- the local Burger King where they all order a Whopper Jr. -- before heading to the cemetery.

"He liked his Whopper Jrs.," Manchester Township Burger King manager Margaret Hess told the York Daily Record.

"It's nice to know he was a loyal customer up until the end -- the very end."

A burger was even ordered for Kime, who was resting peacefully in the back of the hearse in a flag-draped coffin.

One of his three daughters, Linda Phiel, placed the burger bag on top of the coffin to be buried with her dad.

"He always lived by his own rules," Phiel told the York Daily Record. "His version of eating healthy was the lettuce on the Whopper Jr."

Kime, who was borderline diabetic and had a pacemaker, would never listen to Phiel and eat a healthier diet.

"He would say, 'I won't live longer, it will just seem like it because I'll be more miserable faster'," she said.

Kime was a Second World War veteran and was awarded a Purple Heart.

He died Jan. 20 from heart complications.
